With the new crop in Vietnam, as recorded, farmers in Kon Tum province have entered a new coffee harvest, but the coffee price in the market continues to be a gloomy day. Yet, the harvested output decreased; The scarcity and the expensive collection of workers make most coffee growers struggle.
According to the calculations of coffee growers, the cost per hectare of coffee (equivalent to about 1,000 trees) on average is lost over 100 million VND including fertilizer, watering, spraying, weeding, hiring … Thus, with an average yield of about 3 – 3.5 tons of coffee beans/ha and the selling price at 30,000 – 31,000 VND / kg, growers are almost unprofitable, even some houses have to compensate for the loss.
Low selling price, while other costs are continuously increasing year by year, low income of farmers makes many coffee growers discouraged. Farmers are sad because they do not make profits, and businesses that buy and process coffee are also distorted because they are too “leisurely”, because people are still hesitating and regretful, so they have not sold them.
