Due to fears that the global economy is still receding due to the escalating epidemic, the report shows that the number of people infected with Covid-19 does not seem to have stopped, leaving the economic recovery in many countries still delayed. Meanwhile, inoculation implementation has been slow and some vaccines have failed to work as expected, especially with new variants of coronavirus.
However, the market has also begun to show concern as it is expected that new-season inventory will be low, as Brazilian export volumes have consistently hit record levels in recent months, while the country is facing a new upcoming crop where coffee production is also expected to be at a record low.
Jack Scoville, an analyst at research firm Price Futures Group, said: Demand from coffee shops and other foodservice activities remains very low as consumers are still drinking coffee at home. Reports show that consumers at home are consuming blended coffees with more Robusta and less Arabica. Such a trend is more conducive to the Robusta coffee price forecast.

According to weather reports from Brazil, the main Arabica producing state of Minas Gerais in the Southeast has experienced a lot of rain, relatively high above-average rainfall, which is favorable for coffee plants to grow new crops, even though the drought damage from the outset was irreversible. According to observers, the pressure of selling hedging for new products took place quite significantly not only from producing countries but also due to net selling speculation on both derivative coffee exchanges when the epidemic increased. The global recession forced many countries to launch new stimulus packages.
The national food distribution company of Brazil (Conab) said that the country’s coffee output in 2020 reached nearly a record as the production area in the country increased for the first time since 2012, reaching about 1. , 88 million hectares, an increase of 3.9% compared to 2019.

Thus, the Robusta output of Brazil has increased very rapidly recently, equivalent to 2/3 of Vietnam’s Robusta output. USDA predicts that this crop year Vietnam will reach 29 million including 28 million bags of robusta and 1 million bags of arabica.
Brazil is the largest Arabica coffee producer and exporter in the world and second in Robusta production after Vietnam.
